Quatrième de couverture

The fresh objectives for European integration and the new foundations and guidelines for existing policy thrashed out at Maastricht left most laymen wringing their hands in despair. An already complicated integration process, which now encompasses economic and monetary union and will, in time, incorporate political union appeared to have been confused still further. Understanding the new initiatives of European Union is virtually impossible without an overall view of European construction as a whole.

Access to European Union not only provides a comprehensive overview of European integration but also offers a fresh insight with each revised edition.

Readers are guided through the maze of European Union policies thanks to the publication's clear and systematic approach.

Access to European Union throws light upon the European institutions, their raison d'être, their objectives and their experience, and explains EU measures, legal provisions and all the Union's economic programmes.

The book contains over 1 000 references to the Official Journal of the European Communities and more than 400 bibliographic references, selected by subject.
