Aymeric Zublena, architecte
Quatrième de couverture
Architecte
Member of the Academy of Fine Arts, Aymeric Zublena has lived through fifty years of architectural history. He has designed more than one hundred structures, including the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, the Stade de France and the vertical-lift bridge in Rouen. As witness and agent, he has participated in debates on building large structures, lived through the fertile period of functionalism, and has contributed to the invention of planned communities in Greater Paris. He has also experienced the domination of modern architecture, post-modernism's setbacks, the rise of high tech, the radical changes that have taken place in the last twenty years, and the emergence of sustainable cities.
Zublena has measured the strengths and weakness of each of these trends. He has been careful to preserve his independence, which is not only the driving force behind his singular career, but also the force behind his work built on strength, rationalism, and urbanity.
A public, and yet private individual, Aymeric Zublena has allowed himself to be portrayed here, for the first time. Through the texts and images of this comprehensive monograph, Zublena recounts his impressive life as a master builder.
