Quatrième de couverture

Several books have been written about Operation "Merkur", but this one is the first to be written by a Frenchman who presents the battle through the eyewitness accounts of the German paratroopers and those facing them, the soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force.

This book, lively and precise, is also the first to show more than 400 unpublished and unique photographs of the preparation and the operation itself ; it also presents detailed organograms of the forces present.

It will take the reader into the heart of the action.

Biographie

Jean-Yves Nasse. Was born in 1962. In 1997, he published his first book, Green Devils ! telling the history of the German paratroopers during WWII.

Following on the success of this book, he decided to focus his research on the battle for Crete.

As a bookseller and a specialist of the German Army of WWII, he has exchanged letters with the veterans of certain German parachute regiments for the last fifteen years. It is from this correspondence based on eyewitness accounts and personal photos that his second book has been conceived, the result of six years' research.
