Lacaton & Vassal

Conçu par Anne Lacaton et Jean-Philippe Vassal, cet ouvrage monographique a été réalisé dans le cadre de leur exposition à la Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine. Il rassemble l'ensemble des projets de l'agence selon des thèmes (début, paysage, rêve, liberté, habiter, transformation, enchanter, ville) qui tissent une histoire et confrontent des propositions. Véritable réflexion sur la dimension éthique de l'architecture, leur démarche se fonde à la fois sur la générosité de l'habiter et le plaisir de l'habitant. Ils nient l'évidence et recherchent au contraire l'essentiel et le particulier de chaque situation, de chaque contexte. Lacaton et Vassal nous proposent une architecture pour plus de liberté.

This monographic book designed by Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, is published in conjunction with their exhibition at the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine. It gathers all the projects designed by their firm into thematic groups (beginnings, landscape, dreams, freedom, Inhabiting, transformation, enchanting and city) and weaves them into a story that challenges their proposals. Their approach, involving an in-depth reflection on the ethical dimension of architecture, is founded upon both the generosity of the dwelling and the pleasure of the dweller. In denying the obvious, they seek in its place what is essential and specific to each situation and context. Lacaton and Vassal propose architecture that allows us greater freedom.
