Quatrième de couverture

The methodology presented in this book provides a logical framework for assessing road safety policies at country or city level. It draws from field experience in Western Europe as well as in Middle and Low Income Countries and thus fits these diverse conditions. The methodology addresses primarily researchers and technical advisers who operate in the broader areas of transport, urban planning or public health and may not be expert in road safety. In order to help them in their investigations, an overview is first provided of the tasks involved in road safety management, of the actors, stakeholders and sectors concerned and of the various forms of intersectoral organisation which can be found. The methodology includes two checklists of items of information to be collected (at the national and the local levels), guidelines to gather the information from official documents and interviews with key actors, and a glossary of useful terms.
